
The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS Ekiti State has bagged the award of Pillar of Education Support.
The award which took place at NUJ Press Centre, Akure, Ondo State was organized by African Education Monitor magazine.
The publisher of the African Education Monitor Magazine and the initiator of the award, Mr Daisi Adetarami said the aim of the award ceremonies was to celebrate teachers, who were key stakeholders in the education sector.
He noted that while waiting for the ‘Heavenly’ reward, teachers should be celebrated and encouraged so that they could do their best in spite of the prevailing circumstances.
He said: “They are the actual role models in the society. The society will not forget them. They should continue to do more”.
The recipient, Comrade Olusola Adigun appreciated the organizers for deeming him fit to be honored a second time, as he had been so honored 10 years ago by the same organization.
He dedicated the award to the State Administrative Council (SAC) of Ekiti ASUSS who m corporated with him over the years in transforming the Union to an envy of all.
Reflecting on the theme of the event: Ramping Up Quality in Nigeria’s Education Sector – The Critical Role of Stakeholders, Comrade Adigun said, “All hands must be on desk.
All stakeholders must see to the revival of education by funding the sector adequately. They should make the lives of teachers better. When teachers are owed salaries and entitlements, they won’t be encouraged to perform well.”
Executives and members of ASUSS, Ekiti State were there to honour the Chairman with their presence. Among whom were Deputy Chairman Com Thomas Okunola,
Secretary Com Austin Adeola, Com Gabriel Aladeduye, Com Oluwatoyin Ojo and many others.
